Response from Charles, Bishop of Soroti, on the arrival of our latest shipment in February 2006.
Greetings in the name of
our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
We have been sorting out items from the container. Most of the
clothing is new, and we thank God for that. We are going to
distribute these to the camp area. The camp area has, of course,
widened because of the LRA attacks. Bicycles have been exchanged
for the local new ones and given to the catechists (lay readers)
to enable them go round doing their pastoral work. The catechists
have no means of transport. It was a great joy to receive new
bicycles for them. Dr. Odu is yet to give me a report on the
medical equipment but he was happy to receive them.
All the items have been very good. We would be happy to receive
more bicycles, clothing, sewing machines, computers and bedding.
We welcome any other new items to the list. Children's bicycles
and toys are very much welcome.
Margaret had very busy time here and we could not get her to take
any photos, but we assure you that photos will be sent of the
distribution accordingly.
I am delighted that you were able to get registered as a charity.
I know this will improve our management of the services to the
people of Teso. May the Lord bless you.
We welcome you to come over and possibly with one other Trustee.
Above all, we thank you for the care and support of those in need
and especially those displaced in the camps, which includes
church workers.
God bless you and the team.
Yours in Christ,
Rt. Rev. Dr. Charles Obaikol
BISHOP SOROTI.
